Located in Centennial, CO and celebrating its 30th anniversary is the one and only Willow Creek Elementary School. Located at 7855 S Willow Way, the elementary school opened in 1977 in the new community of Willow Creek The school is proud to be a two-time National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, and the only school in Colorado to receive the award under two different sets of criteria, in 1999 (for programs) and 2006 (for test results). Willow Creek Elementary School has also earned the highest rating, "Excellent," of the Colorado Department of Education School Accountability Report every year proving the students are well above average. In addition, at least 90 percent of students attained "proficient" or "advanced" level on state assessments in reading and mathematics (more than 94 percent in math) in each of the past three school years.
Willow Creek Elementary School accepts students from outside the neighborhood and school district. In fact, only 65 percent of its 533 students are from within the Willow Creek Denver neighborhood. Maintaining a nurturing, supportive, and orderly learning environment for students is what the school strives for. The staff continuously improves the instructional delivery system by reviewing school and achievement data, tracking current research, and implementing effective practices to ensure optimal learning experiences for the students. The school and community also work together to provide students with a mix of life assets that enhance the growth and development of children so they become competent, caring, and responsible adults. It is well known that parental involvement is at the heart of student success in Willow Creek. There are many parent volunteers who enrich the school with their time and talent. The highly supportive Parent Teacher Organization (P.T.O.) and Accountability Committee are integral parts of the school environment in Willow Creek.
The Core Values of the school are that students must “push their limits” in regards to their bodies, minds, and characters and will excel and achieve when high expectations and standards are set for them. Celebrating successes, seeking continuous improvement, and thriving in a positive school climate that is physically and psychologically safe are all important for the students at Willow Creek.
Willow Creek offers many Enrichment Activities including the Accelerated Reader, Chess Club, Foreign Language Program, Intramurals, Kids Ink (newspaper written by students), MADD Hatters (Music, Art, Drama and Dance program), Multicultural Club and Student Council.
